I dunno, I would guess I'm as or more conservative than you might be, and I would place myself in the right side of politics on military stuff, including the Mid-East. But I'm comfortable with our our Muslim countrymen here. And that's with a mosque about five miles from my house (and maybe a quarter mile down the street from an Evangelical megachuch) and of course Dearborn 120 miles south (which is NOT remotely under "Sharia Law" (you can get a beer with your pork sammich there for Job's sake...))
Can't speak to the situation in Europe with any perspective, as I haven't lived there. But I will opine that for all our problems, both historical and current, our demographic groups here appear to have assimilated a lot more than those in many parts of Europe where cultures seem much more historically polarized.
Unhappy people? My rule of thumb is engage, assist, ridicule, or take out the crazies depending on their level of threat, regardless of the demographic.
And yeah, beyond general statements like this, I'm not going to get too political here. Always up for conversations, but I understand that a lot of people aren't, and I don't like losing friends over ideas.
