| Strogg 12, GDF 10 ...etc ^ Why is it everytime this happens some people feel guilty and anxious and feel the urge to "balance" the teams by jumping over mid-match? Some people on the lesser team even go so far as to immediately state "WERE DOWN, HELP!!!" ... I know most of the time their intentions are good, but from my angle, I feel this type of behavior is not necessary nor even expected. Hell, I enjoy a lopsided match. You won't ever hear a peep out of me in this scenario. I feel like if my team has less players than the opponent, well, than, time to step it up a notch and improve your teams communication / co-op. It builds character Worst case scenario, the "down" team has to wait a couple minutes for someone to join the server and fill that "slot" ... P.S. Theres always the case of the lesser team getting completely rolled from obj to obj, NOT just the FIRST obj, but several. In that case, it is likely that I would jump over to help out. -Kilo's view | |

| Lopsided matches I can deal with no problem, if it's lopsided in skill. To me, being up two complete players is a huge advantage just due to how many different ways there go about an objective or kill. It's two extra guys to worry about either shooting you in the back in a 1v1, or being able to camp an obj by themselves while the rest of their team is out pushing the front line. There have been way too many times to count where I've noticed a whole defensive team outside that I've either managed to sneak by or shoot through, only to get gunned down by the one guy that is able to sit in the corner and just wait. Like you Kilo, I normally don't mention things unless the map is moving way too quickly than it should be, but I still hop over to the other side to even things out regardless. |

| Being up one player is an advantage, up 2 is too much for most people to handle. I switch to keep more players from leaving the server.
In the future, I'll just move DVS to the team that is down 2 players ; )

| So, okay I will be a bit selfish here. There are a couple of maps where I really like to be on a specific team; like Strogg on Volcano. For these couple I will let the message from the server pass, but if it comes around again, I will (reluctantly) switch. For all other maps I look at the players on both teams, look at the average score first. If the other team is weak, I will switch. However, if the other team is still crushing us, or has a super average score, I think "screw you" and just keep playing. They got the advantage, they don't need more help. |

| I find unbalanced games frustrating, and I'm playing ETQW for enjoyment. If I want frustration, I'll go back to work.
I used to jump pretty quick if the other team was down 2, but now I look for more details. Once I jumped and was the team's only Covert and GDF lost radar. No one noticed until it was too late that there was no Covie and GDF lost a close one.
I rebalanced back only to find the entire team in the "CHILL SUCKS" fireteam. :-)
Now I look first. |

... Now I look first. That's where I'm coming from, and yeah, I'm now trying to look first, too. I might be the person who prompted Kilo's comments because yesterday I was noting that Strogg had been down two for quite awhile. But then Brakaway pointed out that there were only a couple of minutes left, so what was the big deal. And he was right -- his side lost anyway. But I had been so frustrated from the extended and unfair beatings we'd taken previously (see the nearby Nihilist ban thread) that the idea that *no one* would switch became a bit frustating to me. And past years playing on Team Fortress pubs where the morons ran free still tends to make me twitchy about unbalanced teams! Anyway, thanks again for a great server. |

| I usually don't want to, but will sometimes/usually switch if I see the other team is down by two for more than a few minutes, and that team hasn't been rolling the other team. (if you're doing the math at home, you'll realize that its my team getting rolled here) I don't feel right jumping to an obviously stacked team even if they're down.
What I love is when a stacked team rolls the other side like roofied highschoolers, and then if they're down at the start of the next map they can't even make it through the Warmup before one of them urgently declares "We're down one...!"
By that same token, I almost always take a look at who needs help when I join mid-game. If the games looks even I'll see which side is missing a useful class. I find myself on the ass end of quite a few stacked games that way tho...
If the other side is three down I'll jump regardless of other conditions.

| Personally I always try to join the weaker team. I really think that any improvement in my meager ETQW skills has come from challenging myself by going up against the better players, and figuring out how to kill them.
Yes it is frustrating at times, but it is amazing how much difference one single player additionally playing the objective can make. We have all seen it; you get to the last objective with only 5 minutes gone in the game, talk about "playing with them for a while", suddenly somebody really good joins the opposition, and you get stoned, and end up losing the match.
Let's keep this fun by trying to make the matches competitive.

| I auto-switch to the losing team if they haven't gotten past the first objective after 10 mins.
I also switch if they are down by 2 or more.
Just how I play. | |

| I purposely go to the side that is winning. It's easier that way for the other team to get ahead. |

Just how I play. This sums up my attitude very nicely. Steamrolls or complete holds on an objective can be fun every now and then, but in most cases I get either bored or frustrated, depending on the side I'm on. People switching sides to help the other team out are very important in my opinion. Doesn't matter whether the other team is down on players or simply going nowhere. Here's something I wrote on our forums about a situation that occurred on our server some time ago and this is something I see happening all the time on every server that still has games going. The only thing I can say is that it truly pisses me off. You can only hope there are people with some sense of responsibility on the server when something like that happens. Dr. Funkenstein |

| I never care what team i play for unless i am a specific class. 9 times out of 10 i cant switch due to a skill stack -_-. even if the other team is down 2.

| I only complain about lop-sided matches when the lower # team is losing bad, i.e. getting rolled... I like playing 15-20 mins games. 5 min games, not so much. That is when I speak up and ask the "extra player" to move over to help even it out some. Anyways it seldom matters because in 1-2 mins we have some new player join our server and it usually works itself out.. | |
