Hosting an image

So I tried to host an image on the forums, but it wouldn't do anything. There are two buttons here one says image the other says host image, so I tried image and it just gives you a tiny little white square in the top left corner. Then when I tried the other one it asked me for a file or a url. So I tried the file, then it gives me a new window for an upload so I hit copy and it does nothing, then I hit upload and all it does is send me back to the previous screen looking for the file or url. What am I doing wrong??

the button with host an image is what I used. double click white area and a hosting service pops up, either upload an image or enter in the url, when done copy the code and paste it directly into the usual typing box, don't copy the code into another button.
