| thinking about getting this: Intel i-7 3770k 3.5GHz quad ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS EVGA 02G-P4-2680-KR GeForce GTX 680 2GB OCZ Vertex 120GB SATA III SSD Western Digital 1TB Hard Drive CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model $20 LITE-ON cd drive Windows 7 Home CoolerMaster HAF 932 , 4 fans full tower Already have a 1200W Silent Pro CoolerMaster power supply for this I'm no tech geek so if something looks strange, let me know. Based this on some research and word of mouth. I think thats everything. I should be able to order these parts from NewEgg and put it together no problem? Never put a PC together from scratch, looking forward to it. Should be pretty self explantory I just hope all the updating drivers and installing stuff isn't too mind boggling. Ya with our server being so empty I'm gonna look at a few new games and see what looks good. Will still play ETQW, but definitely looking to branch the clan towards some new games. Dirty Bomb looks cool. I don't see any vehicles, though. https://secure.warchest.com/dirtybomb/ | |

| I've put a dozen or so together for personal use, more for lab use. It's easy. My wife can do it even now. Make sure you get a CPU which has a heatsink otherwise it won't come with it and you have to get a 3rd party one which is also fine just make sure you get something obviously. And thermal paste. I cannot say how important that is!! Also Corsair makes good memory so that is a good choice. Also be sure to match the memory speed with the mainboard speeds and clock speed for the cpu. You can do this all in the BIOS but be sure to do it before you do much with this or you will overheat something. For fans, put 2 facing in and 2 facing out.. Get Windows 8 if you can... Only other comment is on video card, do you want 1 or 2 outputs? I run 2 to 2 monitors but not everyone is like me.. | |

| Oh maybe get an SSD smaller HD for your main drive. Boots faster, less issue of crashing... Then use the 1TB for storage..

| Not sure what you mean about the video card, G4RB. I will just be running one screen for now but I wanted a badass card so I can run the new games on high I think the intel i-7 3770k has a built in heatsink, no? otherwise ill get some kind of fan for the processor as well as some arctic thermal paste. | This is what I was saying. 9 times outta 10 if you get a CPU with fan+heatsink it is insufficient for your needs. You should find the OEM version of the same CPU, which has no heatsink+fan (and is cheaper). Then get some big bad mofo honkin fan+heatsink dealio instead. Also depending on your tower/case size, you may have clearance issues if you get too big a heatsink+fan, it all depends though.. | |

| I have the same heatsink+fan! I dunno about the CPU having its own heatsink, maybe you can uninstall it (and put the new one on)? Put 2 case fans sucking IN and 2 pushing air OUT. That way it circulates good. Also you can buy cheap filtration material or even pantyhose and put them over the inlet fans so that no dust gets in. I say all this but my case is sitting here open on the floor. I don't have sufficient case fan flow and I had overheating problems with my last graphics card so I just let if this way with the new one. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I do use compressed air and blow it out good once or twice a month though.. | |
