Well, for a while at least. I turned on my gaming PC only to find that the BIOS won't detect the primary hard drive. All my personal shit and music is on another hard drive, but now I have to find another one, and install EVERYTHING again. Why can't SATA be like IDE and at least give you a warning before it dies?

i went through a few hard drives my self before i spent some money and got an ssd, seems to be running smooth so far

It doesn't?? Did you have SMART enabled?
And of course swap out a cable and change the SATA port in the less likely event that its one of those that failed.

Tried cable swaps last night. Same cables work on the other drive and not on this one. It just decided to go on strike. I'll have to pick up a replacement from ncix or something in the semi-near future.

same here- put just the OS and some apps on the SSD while all my games are sitting on two drives (raid) for back up to the back up
