| Hi, this ping issue is driving me nuts, i understand what it is, but i was wondering if there is anything i can do to my computer that will help. I looked on youtube and there are somethings but i don't trust them cause i don't have enough experience with computers. Thanks... And fodder don't tell me to stop watching porn... | |

| bind j "toggle net_clientprediction 0 5 10 15 20 25 30"
put your lagometer on and play with each setting for 5-10 minutes to see wich one suits you best, your lagometer should look like a flat green line with few breaks in it

| Here is some stuff i found, i never touch this stuff and i'm sure most of you have (cheaters :p) , but just in case someone else who doesn't know about this stuff....i just copied and pasted this.
FPS Tuning -
[config] seta com_unlockFPS "1" - 30 Disable 30 FPS lock [config] seta com_unlock_maxFPS "90" - Locks FPS to 90 FPS. You need to figure out whats the best for you. The max value you should be stabil and not bouncing around. [config] seta com_unlock_timingMethod "1" - 2 is bound to 30 FPS, 1 is a multiple of 30 und 0 is totaly unlocked from the FPS. I recommend 0 or 1 because for 2 you really need many FPS else you'll get a performance drop.

| Here is a great site for all your ETQW tweak needs http://www.tweakguides.com/ETQW_7.htmlsadly, with ETQW you can only do so much the game is just laggy.. i don't care what SD says, the modified Idtech4 engine they used just cant handle the game properly.. the best tweak you can do, move closer to the server! :0 | |

| Another thing I've proven to help lower the ping is to have a good firewall (the firewall of windows is a joke) properly configured and with the Game-mode enabled so that when playing, only ETQW has all available bandwidth of the network (Preventing other applications to access or updating while you're playing).
Good Firewall´s are Comodo & Anline Armour (Both have free versions)
Note: Is necesary a little time and a little knowledge. If you do not know anything about computers, it is better to tell another to do it for you |

| I dont use a firewall on my PC.. i let my router handle that... then i set QOS in the router , ETQW has top priority.. and i agree, Windows firewall blows! thus i turn it off..
different strokes for different folks i suppose..

| Your router prioritizes ETQW over other applications, but does not prevent other applications from accessing Internet while you're playing. Several players with 200 + ping we found the improvement to configure a good firewall and enable the Game-Mode of it when playing ETQW.
I do not know your current ping, but not be a bad idea to test a software firewall (the way I set it is in manual mode, blocking all and asking each connection, manually giving permission to each application (it is tedious but very efficient, you'd be surprised the amount of things that go to the internet). |

depends on the router... link below can state the 'GENERAL' process better then i could.. its basically what i do for my router.. pretty start forward if your router supports QOS.. http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,2845,2348952,00.asp

| About a month ago my ping went from usually being ~30 to being ~200 on the CrYpT server. I flushed my DNS and it brought it down to ~100. My ping on the BH server was and is ~30.
From my work PC (3 miles from my home) I get a distance of 317 miles to the server, as show on Game Monitor. From my home PC is shows a distance of 6,106 miles to the server. It shows the same thing for all my computers at home, which is around 5 computers. Also, Game Monitor shows a location of Akron OH from work, but is blank from my home PC.
Any one have any suggestions? I have already unplugged my cable modem and wireless router.
